Yousuf Zafar is a practicing gastrointestinal oncologist, author, adjunct professor, and healthcare executive.
Most recently, Yousuf served as senior vice president for one of the largest health technology companies in the United States, where he developed innovative solutions to facilitate value-based care. Before this role, Yousuf was a professor of medicine and chief quality & innovation officer at the Duke Cancer Institute, where he cared for patients and led initiatives to improve cancer care quality.
With over 20 years of research experience, Yousuf has authored multiple book chapters and over 120 manuscripts in high-impact journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine. His internationally renowned research, supported by the National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society, focuses on eliminating barriers to high-quality cancer care.
Yousuf is a seasoned global speaker, known for his engaging communication style. He has addressed audiences as large as 14,000 and has extensive media experience, with his work and interviews featured in numerous national outlets. Yousuf is also a photographer. His work has been published in print and online, and shown in numerous group and solo exhibitions.
Yousuf earned an Honors AB degree from the University of Chicago and a medical degree from the University of Toledo. He earned a master’s degree in clinical research at Duke University. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center and his oncology fellowship at the Duke University Medical Center. He is board-certified in medical oncology, a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and an adjunct professor at Duke University School of Medicine.
